Sundance Selects has acquired domestic distribution rights to “Two Days, One Night,” Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s upcoming film starring Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard.
The Dardennes, Belgian brothers who have won two Palme d’Ors at the Cannes Film Festival, will write and direct the film, which is in pre-production.
Cotillard will star as a woman who spends two days and a night hunting for colleagues who will sacrifice bonuses so she can keep her job.
"After a terrific experience working with Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne on their last film, ‘The Kid with a Bike,’ we are thrilled to continue the partnership with ‘Two Days, One Night,’” Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects and IFC Films, said in a statement. “We believe the Dardenne's are two of the best filmmakers working in film today and can't wait to see what they do with this brilliant screenplay and the always enchanting Marion Cotillard."
Sundance Selects’ Arianna Bocco made the deal with Wild Bunch’s Carole Baraton, who was representing the filmmakers.
Phase 4 Films Acquires ‘Free Ride’ Starring Anna Paquin
Phase 4 Films has acquired domestic distribution rights to ‘Free Ride,’ the first film to be produced by Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer’s production company CASM. Paquin will star in the film as a single mother who gets mixed up in the high-end drug trade after moving to Florida with her daughters. Shana Betz wrote and directed the film, which is based on her own story. “Free Ride” also stars Cam Gigandet, Drea De Matteo, Liana Liberato and Jeff Hephner.
“Shana Betz has written and directed a poignant and gripping film anchored by a powerful performance by Anna Paquin,” Phase 4 CEO Barry Meyerowitz said in a statement. “We look forward to working with Shana, and the entire cast and producing team to bring this film to audiences.”
Phase 4 will release the film in theaters and via video-on-demand later this year.
