HBO released the trailer Monday for Season 2 of “Succession,” and wouldn’t you know it, the Roy Family still has major issues.
“Succession” Season 2 begins where the 10-episode Season 1 dramatically left off, per HBO’s description. We don’t want to say anything else that could potentially spoil the freshman year’s finale, which took a hard right turn. (Those who didn’t miss Season 1 might find a joke there.)
The sophomore run follows the Roys as they struggle to retain control of their media empire, the premium cable channel continued. While the future looks increasingly uncertain, it is the past that threatens to ultimately destroy them.
The trailer shows both that struggle and those threats. In the sneak peek, Logan Roy (Brian Cox) yell-laments that he’s “surrounded by snakes and f—ing morons.” While their characters may be considered among the latter, Kieran Culkin and Matthew Macfadyen shine in the trailer.
For the record, Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun) is definitely among the “f—ing morons.”

“Succession” was created by Jesse Armstrong, who showruns. Armstrong, Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod and Tony Roche are Season 2 executive producers.
The Season 2 cast includes Cox, Culkin, Macfadyen, Jeremy Strong, Hiam Abbass, Sarah Snook, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun, Peter Friedman, Rob Yang, J. Smith Cameron, Dagmara Dominczyk and Arian Moayed.
“Succession” returns to HBO for Season 2 on Sunday, August 11.
