Comedians and actors take to Twitter to eulogize anarchic comic

Jonathan Winters was remembered as a pioneer on Friday, as a number of comedians and actors took to Twitter to eulogize the veteran comic who died at the age of 87 on Thursday night in Southern California.

“Goodbye, Jonathan Winters,” tweeted Steve Martin shortly after the news of Winters’ death began to spread. “You were not only one of the greats, but one of the great greats.”

“Comedy loses a KING!” added Pee-wee Herman. “Jonathan was an influence on so many and there was nobody like him. Loved you, Jonathan!”
