Steve Landesberg, ‘Barney Miller’s’ Arthur Dietrich, Dies at 65

Landesberg recently starred as a pediatrician in “Forgetting Sarah Marhsall”

Steve Landesberg, the veteran character actor who played Arthur Dietrich on TV's "Barney Miller" and more recently starred in "Forgetting Sarah Marhsall," has died. He was 65.

Landesberg died of cancer, according to TMZ. Landesberg's agent did not respond to TheWrap's requests for confirmation.

Landesberg joined "Barney Miller" in the show's second season and remained a key figure there, playing the bookish and widely knowledgeable detective Dietrich.

His post-"Barney Miller" career included roles on "The Golden Girls," "Seinfeld," "Everybody Hates Chris," "Head Case" and others. He played a pediatrician in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."

"Barney Miller" ran from 1975-1982.
