Steve Harvey took to Twitter on Monday to joke about “La La Land” mistakenly being awarded the Best Picture Oscar when “Moonlight” was the actual winner, which echoed a similar mistake Harvey made at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.
Good morning everybody! Went to sleep early last night. So… what I miss? #Oscars

“This is very unfortunate what happened. Personally I blame Steve Harvey for this,” said host Jimmy Kimmel, with a very quick ad-lib as the Oscars drama was unfolding late Sunday night.
“This is not a joke. ‘Moonlight’ has won Best Picture,” said “La La Land” producer Jordan Horowitz, after the “La La Land” team had given acceptance speeches.
Back in 2015, Harvey famously named Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as Miss Universe when she was actually first runner-up.
“I have to apologize,” Harvey said after Gutierrez was given the Miss Universe crown and sash, while tearily waving to the cheering audience. “The first runner-up is Colombia.”
The actual Miss Universe, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, was then announced, and she made her way to the main stage confused and emotional.
“This is exactly what’s on the card,” Harvey said, showing off proof that Wurtzbach was clearly stated as the winner. “I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card… Please don’t hold it against the ladies.”
While Harvey took responsibility, Warren Beatty blamed the Oscars mistake on the cards.
Call me Warren Beatty. I can help you get through this! #Oscars

“I want to tell you what happened,” Beatty said. “I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, ‘La La Land.’ That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny.”
