Sterling K. Brown will guest star in an upcoming episode of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Fox announced on Thursday.

The “This Is Us” star will make a guest appearance in an episode of the comedy when it returns in the spring, playing a murder suspect under interrogation by Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta and Andre Braugher’s Captain Holt.

Last September, Brown gave a shout-out to Braugher at the Emmys while accepting his award for his work on “This Is Us,” noting that the last time a black actor won in the category was when Braugher took home the statue in 1998 for “Homicide: Life On The Street.”

“Nineteen years ago, Detective Frank Pembleton held this joint, as impeccably played by Andre Braugher,” Brown said. “I just want to say, Mr. Braugher, whether it is at Stanford University or on this Emmy stage, it is my supreme honor to follow in your footsteps.”

Now, the two actors will share the screen on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in an episode which will be wholly dedicated to the storyline of Brown’s character’s interrogation.
