Watch Stephen Colbert Contact Barack Obama Via Microwave (Video)

“I miss you,” “Late Show” host says to the former president

Kellyanne Conway suggested Barack Obama might have used “microwaves that turn into cameras” to spy on Donald Trump — so naturally, “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert tried to reach out to the former president via the same method on Monday night.

“It’s true, it’s true, microwaves that turn into cameras — how do you think we film this show?” Colbert said before unveiling a microwave on top of a tripod, operated by a cameraman. “Kellyanne Conway has only one move… Go go alternative facts.”

Colbert then tried to commune with Obama through a microwave, whispering, “I miss you.”

In an interview with the Bergen County Record on Sunday, Conway spoke about Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that Obama wiretapped him during his presidential campaign. As is often her job, she had to make sense of Trump’s tweeted comment. She suggested that lots of devices, including smartphones, can be turned into bugs — something that was also part of Wikileaks’ first wave of Vault 7 leaks allegedly from the Central Intelligence Agency.

“What I can say is there are many ways to surveil each other now, unfortunately,” Conway said in the story. “There was an article this week that talked about how you can surveil someone through their phones, certainly through their television sets, any number of different ways. And microwaves that turn into cameras, et cetera. So we know that that is just a fact of modern life.”
