Starz Gives Go-Ahead to Sam Raimi’s ‘Noir’

Live-action adaptation of 2001 anime series will track a pair of female assassins

Cable network Starz has picked up Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert's live-action adaptation of the anime series "Noir," an individual with knowledge of the project confirms to TheWrap.

The original series, which ran on TV Tokyo in 2001, follows a pair of female assassins who embark on a journey of personal discovery and discover that they have far more in common than they originally thought, all while a mysterious organization called Les Soldats lays out a series of traps for the duo.

Longtime collaborators Raimi and Tapert — who co-executive produced "Xena: Warrior Princess" — also co-executive produced Starz's 2010 hit "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" and its current follow-up "Sprtacus: Gods of the Arena."

News of "Noir" being picked up by Starz was first reported by Deadline.
