New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ TV Spot Teases Kylo Ren’s Attack (Video)

Latest entry in epic sci-fi franchise opens in theaters Dec. 18

A new TV spot for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” gives fans an up close and personal look at Kylo Ren and his cross guard lightsaber.

The spot consists mostly of previously released footage, but the brief new clips of the villain, played by Adam Driver, offer more clues about his role in the seventh installment of the blockbuster sci-fi franchise George Lucas launched in 1977.

For example, the new close up on Kylo’s lightsaber seems to take place aboard a ship, more specifically a ship belonging to the New Order. Perhaps Kylo is taking a page out of Darth Vader’s book and is preparing to kill some of his underlings.

The film directed by J.J. Abrams also stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Harrison Ford, Mark Hammil, Carrie Fisher and Domhnall Gleason.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens in theaters on Dec. 18.
