Sorry, “Sisters” cast — your little comedy never really stood a chance thanks to some unfortunate scheduling.
The Tina Fey–Amy Poehler film dropped on the same day as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which essentially means the funny one will go quietly into the night this weekend, when everyone in the galaxy drools over the sci-fi franchise. But Seth Meyers wants the help his old “SNL” friends, and the “Late Night” host thinks he can do so by using promotional materials from the J.J. Abrams blockbuster.
Meyers equipped each of the main cast members from “Sisters” — Ike Barinholtz, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Maya Rudolph and Paula Pell — with a “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” action figure. They then used close-ups of those children’s toys to sell adults on seeing “Sisters” instead.
The panel segment included Barinholtz doing a pretty good Adam Driver impression, Fey giving her droid an absurd Italian accent, and then this from Poehler: “I don’t care about ‘Star Wars,’ I never f–king did … who gives a f–k?”
Pell went even more ridiculous than that, shoving John Boyega‘s Finn down her pants into “the space cave,” where the ex-Stormtrooper declared that he saw a “big … snow Wookiee” down there.
