Fans had to have it, so Netflix is giving it to them. Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It” has been renewed for a second season, the creator announced via Instagram on Monday.

“Happy New Year. Happy Year. Great News For 2018,” Lee captioned a video message revealing the best scoop of the New Year to his followers.

Star DeWanda Wise got in on the fun by posting a picture of herself from the first season with the caption, “Back ta werq! Season [2] is OFFICIAL!!! Can’t wait to return to BK. Congrats to [all of us].”

Wise leads the TV adaptation of Lee’s 1986 indie film as Nola Darling, a woman in her late 20s living in Brooklyn juggling her job, friends and relationships — all while trying to figure out who she is.

The series, which premiered on Netflix over last Thanksgiving weekend, is Lee’s first move into series television. He created and produced the show and directed the entire 10-episode first season.

Tonya Lewis Lee is executive producer, with Barry Michael Cooper and Lynn Nottage also producing.

“She’s Gotta Have it” also stars Greer Childs, Lyriq Bent, Anthony Ramos, Heather Headley, Margot Bingham, Chyna Layne and Elise Hudson.
