“Stranger Things” breakout Sadie Sink has joined the cast of Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man 4” at Sony, TheWrap has learned.

As with all things Marvel, details about Sink’s role are being kept under wraps, although unconfirmed online rumors suggest she will play Jean Grey from the X-Men. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote the script.

The Tom Holland-led film will be directed by “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton. The movie will commence production in late 2025 after Holland finishes Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.”

Cretton was previously attached to direct the now-scrapped “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” before scheduling conflicts and the ensuing assault trial that surrounded Jonathan Majors arose. The filmmaker has an overall deal at Marvel Studios and even directed episodes of the upcoming “Wonder Man.”

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing “Spider-Man 4.”

The third film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” was released in December 2021 and has grossed nearly $2 billion worldwide.

Sink most recently wrapped the final season of “Stranger Things” and will next be seen in Searchlight film “O’Dessa.” Sink is repped by WME, Mara Entertainment and Peikoff Mahan.

“Spider-Man 4” will be released on July 31, 2026.

Marvel and Sony did not respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
