“Chicago P.D.” star Sophia Bush is set to leave the NBC show after four seasons, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
Bush played Detective Erin Lindsay, an intelligence officer who had personal connections with other members of the squad. Sergeant Henry “Hank” Voight (Jason Beghe) — the head of the unit — took her under his wing and she was in a relationship with Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).
A possible exit was hinted at in the Season 4 finale, as Lindsay had recently come under fire for the way she treated a convicted pedophile (by sticking her gun in his mouth). She then got offered a job at the FBI’s New York counter-terrorism unit, which she could potentially use to solver her mom’s legal troubles.
The episode ended with Lindsay accepting the job and standing on a bridge overlooking the Chicago skyline as she ignored a call from Halstead.
Bush is the second key player to leave the show following the season finale this year. Matt Olmstead, the previous showrunner, left after the season wrapped. “Law & Order: SVU” showrunner Rick Eid recently exited the position to take over on “Chicago P.D.”
“P.D.” was renewed for Season 5, along with sister shows “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med.” Spinoff “Chicago Justice” was recently canceled after only one season.
