Sony Pictures Elevates Scott Sherr to Exec VP, Marketing & Distribution

The new exec VP of worldwide marketing and distribution had been senior VP of worldwide theatrical digital cinema operations

Sony Pictures Entertainment has promoted Scott Sherr to  exec VP of worldwide marketing and distribution, the company announced Tuesday.

He was previously senior VP of worldwide theatrical digital cinema operations.

Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at Sony Pictures Releasing, made the announcement.

Sherr will still work with Sony's theatrical digital delivery strategy. He also will continue making deals and assessing opportunities involving Sony Pictures Entertainment's 3D releasing strategy.

He joined Sony's Motion Picture Finance and Corporate Development Group in 1997 and moved to Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment in 2000. In 2003, he was promoted to VP, corporate development and strategic planning. He became senior VP of worldwide theatrical digital cinema operations in 2006.

Before joining Sony, he worked in the London and New York offices of Lehman Brothers Inc., in the now-defunct investment banking firm's media and communications group.
