Sony Pictures Classics will release Roman Polanski’s "Carnage" in North America, the studio announced on Thursday.
The film version of the Tony Award winning play "God of Carnage" stars Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly.
Polanski wrote the screenplay with playwright Yasmina Reza.
Set in contemporary Brooklyn, New York (though film far from there thanks to Polanski's legal problems), the film centers on two pairs of parents one of whose child has hurt the other at a public park, who meet to discuss the matter in a civilized manner.
It's the first movie Polanski has directed since narrowly avoiding extradition last year.
However, the discussion eventually devolves into chaos. "Carnage" is produced by Said Ben Said, and the film should hit theaters by the end of the year.
Sony Pictures Classics acquired the film from Said Ben Said and ICM’s Jeff Berg.
