Sony Moving Roland Emmerich’s White House Thriller to Summer 2013

Known as "White House Down," the film stars Jamie Foxx as the president and Channing Tatum as a Secret Service agent

Sony is moving up the release date of Roland Emmerich's upcoming White House action thriller to the summer of 2013, the studio said.

Getty ImagesThe film, with the working title "White House Down," was originally slated to premiere on Nov. 1, 2013, but it will now debut on June 28, 2013.

The new release date will put it head-to-head with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson's comedy "The Internship" and Ryan Reynolds' supernatural thriller "R.I.P.D."

Moving the film gets it out of the way of "Ender's Game," the upcoming adaptation of Orson Scott Card's science fiction novel and puts it into the heart of blockbuster season.
