To paraphrase the title of a popular Kings of Leno Leon song, this FX is on fire.
The cable networks says last week will go down as the best-rated week in its 15 years in existence. Credit strong performances from the season finale of "Sons of Anarchy," the premiere of "Live Free or…DIE HARD!" (caps and punctuation added) and the continued rise of "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia."
Specifically, FX had an average audience of 2.14 million viewers, 20 percent ahead of its previous high water mark in 2006. Among adults 18-49, the network averaged 1.15 million folks, up 16 percent from its last personal best in 2007.
FX also set delivery records in a number of other demos, including men 18-34 and women 18-49.
Other feel-good factioids from FX:
–"Sons" was the No. 1 entertainment show on cable with men 18-49 and adults 18-34. It was second only to "Monk" as the biggest show in adults 18-49.
–"Sunny" is up a whopping 49 percent vs. last season.
–FX was the No. 3 basic cable network last week in adults 18-49, beating out the likes of TBS, TNT and A&E. ESPN and USA were No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the demo.
