Twitter users were out in force on Tuesday following Stephen Colbert‘s joke about President Donald Trump the previous night that many called homophobic.

The hashtag #FireColbert quickly trended on Twitter as some users expressed outrage over the CBS late-night host’s comment during Monday’s monologue that said the only thing Trump’s mouth is “good for is being Vladimir Putin’s cock holster.”

“Colbert’s homophobic rant was disgusting and we won’t tolerate this anti-LGBTQ behavior,” one conservative Twitter user wrote. “Liberals ruin the careers of conservatives all the time, so the #FireColbert campaign is just giving libs a taste of their own medicine,” wrote another.

Colbert’s joke came when the host rose to the defense of his CBS colleague John Dickerson after the “Face the Nation” host became Trump’s target following a contentious interview.

“Mr. President, your presidency — I love your presidency — I call it Disgrace The Nation,” Colbert said before launching into a long string of insults that culminated in the line, “the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c— holster.”

Though some were upset by the line, others laughed at the idea that Colbert would be fired for the joke.

“Conservatives last week: Ann Coulter has a right to freely spew her hate speech,” read one mocking tweet. “Conservatives today: We don’t like this joke”
