Social media quickly got the word out of Caitlyn Jenner’s arrival when the former Olympian’s “Call Me Caitlyn” debut in Vanity Fair magazine hit the web on Monday.
Ryan Black, a segment producer at TLC, wrote on Facebook: “BOOM! Giving Jessica Lange a run. #CaitlynJenner.”
“Such a beautiful and inspiring person,” one Twitter user tweeted.
“A 65 year old transgender woman is more beautiful than I’ll ever be. @Caitlyn_Jenner is such an incredible woman!!!” another wrote.
In an exclusive cover shoot for the July issue of Vanity Fair previewed on Monday, the former Bruce Jenner introduced herself as Caitlyn.
Jenner joined Twitter herself the same day as @Caitlyn_Jenner and quickly built a following that beat President Barack Obama’s record for reaching 1 million followers the fastest.
“@Caitlyn_Jenner has surpassed 1 million followers since posting her first Tweet just over four hours ago (at 12:17 p.m.). The heralded Olympian reached this milestone faster than @POTUS, the personal account of the President, who joined on May 18 and reached 1 million in under 5 hours,” Twitter reported.
Jenner also joined Facebook with news of her Vanity Fair shoot.
“Everybody has challenges in dealing with life. I’m so happy after such a long struggle and finally living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. It feels so good. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me,” Jenner wrote.
