‘SNL’: Watch Larry David as Bernie Sanders in ‘Bern Your Enthusiasm’ (Video)

In a meta-moment, the comic’s “Bernie Sanders” channels Larry David’s neuroses in “Saturday Night Live” digital short

Wondering how Bernie Sanders lost Iowa by so few votes? Larry David‘s “Bern Your Enthusiasm” is here to explain.

Larry David put his resemblance to the Vermont senator to good use during his hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live.” The highlight was a brilliant digital short that imagined Sanders at the center of David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

In “Bern Your Enthusiasm,” Sanders has the love and adoration of Iowa voters — until his weird, Larry David-esque neuroses get in the way. He can’t consider 2 percent milk, for example.

Bobby Moynihan stops in as beleaguered campaign manager Jeff, Cecily Strong does a very strong Suzy, and Jay Pharoah out-Leons Leon.

And because the sketch forgets no detail, Taran Killam strains his vocal chords for a turn as Marty Funkhouser. Vanessa Bayer plays a cross between Sanders’ real-life wife and Larry’s onscreen ex, Cheryl. And Aidy Bryant plays a voters who needs a very uncomfortable favor.

Sanders himself turned up elsewhere on “SNL,” seeming a lot less awkward than his character on “Bern Your Enthusiasm.”

Sanders and David appeared together on the NBC comedy stalwart on the same night the Republican presidential candidates fought it out on ABC.
