‘SNL’ Axes Watkins and Wilson

Watkins was known for her Arianna Huffington and Hoda Kotb impressions.

The Lorne giveth– and the Lorne taketh away.

"Saturday Night Live" has decided to part ways with cast members Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson, an executive familiar with the decision confirmed. The news comes just days after word that "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels had hired Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad for the upcoming season.

Watkins’ departure is surprising, given her standout portrayals last season of Arianna Huffington and NBC’s Hoda Kotb. She joined last November. Wilson joined toward the end of the 2007-08 season.

The firings were first reported by The Comic’s Comic blog.
