David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" (below), Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" and Dustin Hoffman's "Quartet" are among the films that will have gala screenings at the AFI Fest 2012, the American Film Institute announced on Thursday.
Other Centerpiece Gala screenings will include Walter Salles' Jack Kerouac adaptation "On the Road," DreamWorks Animation's "Rise of the Guardians" and Jacques Audiard's "Rust and Bone."
Among the fest's Special Screenings are Sally Potter's "Ginger and Rosa," Juan Antonio Bayona's "The Impossible" and Leos Carax's Cannes sensation "Holy Motors."

Documentaries receiving showcase screenings include "The Central Park Five," "West of Memphis" and "Room 237."
The festival's opening and closing night films, Sacha Gervasi's "Hitchcock" and Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," were previously announced.
The announced films give the festival a solid lineup of awards contenders, all of which will receive high-profile screenings at a crucial time in this year's shortened Oscar season.
The festival will run from Nov. 1 through Nov. 8 at the Chinese and Egyptian theaters in Hollywood.
Tickets to AFI Fest 2012 presented by Audi will be free for all screenings, though only those who purchase patron packages will have reserved seating for the galas. Those packages are currently on sale at AFI.com/AFIFEST.
Free tickets will become available to the public on Oct. 25, with AFI members receiving a one-day advance window for tickets.
Additional programming will be announced in coming days.
