Showtime Renews ‘Ray Donovan’ for Second Season

Its first episode was Showtime's highest-rated original series premiere ever

Showtime has renewed "Ray Donovan" for a second season, the cable network announced Tuesday.

The "Ray Donovan" debut episode was Showtime's highest-rated original series premiere ever, earning more than 6 million viewers across platforms.

"'Ray Donovan' is on track to be our biggest season one show ever," David Nevins, Showtime's president of entertainment, said in a statement. "Ann Biderman and the extraordinarily talented creative team, coupled with the brilliant ensemble cast led by Liev Schreiber, have produced one of the hottest new dramas of the year. We are proud and excited to pick up another season."

The announcement comes on the heels of strong ratings for weeks two and three as well.

"Ray Donovan" stars Golden Globe and Emmy-winner Schreiber as a professional "fixer" — the person called in to make celebrities, superstar athletes and business moguls’ most complicated situations go away.

The Showtime drama also stars Jon Voight, Elliot Gould and Dash Mihok.
