Showtime has given a cast-contingent pilot order to the comedy anthology series “Mating” from Jason Katims.
The “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood” creator will executive produce the pilot written and created by “The Americans’” Stu Zicherman.
The comedy explores modern mating, with each season exploring a different protagonist’s journey. The first season will center on a recently divorced guy who tries to evolve and connect, one date at a time.
“Mating” is a co-production between Showtime and Universal Television. Katims and Zicherman will serve as executive producers alongside Michelle Lee of Katims’ True Jack Prodcutions.
Katims is also producing the pilots “Bunker Hill” at CBS and “Us” at HBO. He also serves as executive producer on Hulu’s “The Path” starring Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan, set to premiere next month.
