Shonda Rhimes Resigns From Kennedy Center Board After Trump Takes Over as Chairman

The writer and producer was appointed to the board of trustees by President Barack Obama and served as Treasurer until Wednesday

Shonda Rhimes resigned from the Kennedy Center board of trustees on Wednesday following the election of President Donald Trump as the performing arts institution’s chairman.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” writer and producer was appointed to the board by President Barack Obama and served as the treasurer until Wednesday’s announcement.

“Please be advised that as of today, Shonda Rhimes has resigned from the board of the Kennedy Center,” a spokesperson for the writer and producer said.

The news came just hours after Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that he was “unanimously” elected chairman of the Kennedy Center after longtime president Deborah F.
