“Dancing With the Stars” celebrated Halloween early on Monday night, but the show’s shocking elimination will be giving countless fans nightmares.

The contestants on the ABC dance competition pulled out all the stops with their elaborate costumes. Former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter brought Frankenstein to life for an Argentine tango, YouTube star Hayes Grier sprouted facial hair to play Teen Wolf, and Tamar Braxton sank her teeth into The Doors’ “People Are Strange” from the “Lost Boys” soundtrack.

However Grier, Braxton and Alexa PenaVega landed in the bottom three after their horror-themed performances.

While the judges praised Grier’s development, with Julianne Hough telling him there was “a maturity … to me tonight, you were a leading man,” it wasn’t enough to overcome last week’s poor performance and he was sent packing along with partner, Emma Slater.

“You go out on a night when you excelled,” host Tom Bergeron told the young contestant, who described the show “as a life-changing event.”

Fans on Twitter didn’t take the news as well, with many saying they were going to quit watching Season 21 now that Hayes was gone, while others asked why Braxton didn’t get the boot.

Earlier in the night, Bindi Irwin also picked a “Lost Boys” song, this time it was the main theme, “Cry Little Sister” by Gerard McMann.

“Bindi needs to be an evil queen vampiress,” her partner Derek Hough said. “Don’t be afraid to be scary.”

His advice to the sweet Australian teen on how to tap into her dark side worked, as judge Bruno Tonioli told the pair “it was spellbinding dance magic.”

The “DWTS” cast also spilt into two terrifying teams — Team #Nightmare and Team #WhoYouGonnaCall — for a group dance off inspired by “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Ghostbusters.”

“Dancing With the Stars” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
