Blake Heron, the former child star who died in September at age 35, died from the effects of multiple drugs, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The coroner’s office listed the manner of Heron’s death as accidental.
Heron was known for his portrayal of Marty Preston in the 1996 family movie “Shiloh.”
The Blast reported that a drug in Heron’s system was fentanyl, on which the actor overdosed. Fentanyl, an opioid, contributed to the deaths of music legends Prince and Tom Petty.
Heron, who was found dead in his Los Angeles area apartment Sept. 8, had long battled heroin addiction. While promoting the film “A Thousand Junkies” last year, Heron told Deadline, “It was easy to get into character, but it was also at certain points kind of rough, revisiting that frame of mind, and lifestyle …. The film portrays us — the way we used to be — pretty accurately, so to revisit that sometimes was a little bit of a bummer, but I had a blast doing the movie.”
At the time of Heron’s death, TMZ reported that the actor had recently gotten out of rehab and had been sick for a number of days.
In addition to “Shiloh,” Heron also appeared in the Disney movie “Tom and Huck,” HBO’s “Cheaters,” “We Were Soldiers” and “Dandelion.”
According to TMZ, the actor had just gotten out of rehab and been sick for several days.
