Sherri Shepherd had some words for Halle Berry after the Oscar-winning actress laid a “payback” kiss on Adrien Brody in front his partner Georgina Chapman on the Oscars red carpet Sunday.
“If Adrien Brody was my man, they’d be like, ‘Is that a tattoo of Sherri’s hand on your face?’ That’d been Will Smith Part 2 at the Oscars,” Shepherd said during her daytime talk show “Sherri,” openly criticizing Berry for what she clearly thought was a disrespectful overstep. “I don’t play, I don’t play like that. That b-word would have been flying around on that red carpet.”
At the top of the dress-down, Shepherd recounted the order of a events, which began when Berry approached Brody and Chapman while they were speaking with Mario Lopez for “Access Hollywood” on the red carpet.
“She told Georgina Chapman, ‘Sorry, but I got to do it.’ I looked at her, I said, ‘Heffa, you ain’t got to do nothin’ — not with my man!” Shepherd said. “You not gon’ kiss my man in front of me. Look at that! First of all, you’re not going to come at me, look me in my face and still kiss my man, because you know what I think about that? You saw the way Adrien Brody kissed her when he grabbed her, and he kissed her like he was ready for something to happen. And wasn’t she married to Eric Benet at the time? Eric Benet looked like he was about to bust a gut when he saw this man with his wife.”

“All that’s going to do is make Adrien Brody go, ‘Oh, wait a minute. I ain’t felt like this in a long time.’ You done opened up the door with your lips, Halle,” Shepherd continued, adding that she understands Berry was trying to “recreate a moment” — and it worked.
“Halle, I do want to say I know you were just trying to recreate a moment, and you did it girl,” Shepherd admitted.
Berry’s “revenge” comes after Brody shocked her by pulling her in for a kiss during the 20o3 Oscars ceremony, where Brody became the youngest Best Actor winner for his performance in “The Pianist.” Berry was presenting Brody with the award when he suddenly gave her an impromptu kiss. In all fairness, and as Shepherd mentioned, Berry was also in a relationship when Brody kissed her. She was married to Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Eric Benét, whom she was with from 2001 to 2005. And unlike Brody, Berry got permission from Chapman before kissing him.
