Ian Ziering and Tara Reid return for a second attempt at Emmy glory on Wednesday night with Syfy’s “Sharknado 2: The Second One,” the sequel to last year’s televised convergence of storm and ocean predator.

This time out, a cavalcade of newcomers such as Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Mark McGrath are getting in on the action, which is as sure a sign as any that “The Second One” will bear the same mark of excellence as its predecessor.
