Praise Kier! “Severance” will return for Season 3 at Apple TV+.

It’s not surprising that the streamer would be interested in more episodes of the drama from Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller. “Severance” first premiered in February 2022. It quickly became a breakout hit for Apple, garnering widespread critical acclaim as well as 14 nominations during the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards and Creative Arts Emmy Awards. That first season ultimately took home two wins for Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Music Composition for a Series in the Original Dramatic Score subcategory.

Season 2 has been similarly praised by critics as both installments currently have 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. During its premiere week, “Severance” Season 2 secured 598 million viewing minutes, according to Nielsen measurements. That week the series ranked No. 4 on the audience measurement company’s weekly list of the top streamed original content, a rarity for Apple TV+.

“Making ‘Severance’ has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,” executive producer and director Ben Stiller said in a statement. “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

“The idea of getting to make more ‘Severance’ with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined,” said creator, writer and executive producer Dan Erickson. “I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread and malice with these truly incredible people.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast & crew, Apple and the whole ‘Severance’ team,” said star and executive producer Adam Scott. “Oh hey also – not a huge deal – but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook shared the news on X with a custom video.

There are few shows on television more twisting and ambitious than “Severance.” The corporate hellscape drama follows Mark S. (Adam Scott), a man who underwent the controversial Severance procedure that completely separates his work life from his private life. But while on the outside he delves further into the reasons why he took these extreme measures, his innie begins to develop an existence and personality that is entirely his own. The series questions the demands of the modern era of capitalism as well what identity means during a time when the concept is more segmented than ever.

“What Ben, Dan, Adam and the talented cast and crew behind ‘Severance’ have brought to the screen is undeniable magic,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We’re so proud to be the home for this brilliant series and look forward to audiences experiencing what’s in store for Season 3.”

The show stars Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken and Academy and Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette. It is executive produced by Stiller, who also directed five episodes of Season 2 in addition to directors Uta Bresiewitz, Sam Donovan and Jessica Lee Gagné. The series is written, created written and executive produced by Dan Erickson. Season 2 is also executive produced by John Lesher, Jackie Cohn, Mark Friedman, Beau Willimon, Jordan Tappis, Sam Donovan, Caroline Baron, Richard Schwartz, Nicholas Weinstock. In addition to starring, Scott and Arquette serve as executive producers. Fifth Season is the studio.
