During Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress this week, the president complained that he can’t get Democrats to even smile at him, which made Seth Meyers smile pretty hard on Thursday night. In fact, the “Late Night” host found it mighty funny that Dems are now “getting catcalled by the president.”

In his record-long speech, which clocked in at an hour and 40 minutes, Trump complained that, no matter what he does, Democrats won’t be happy with him ever.

“I look at the Democrats in front of me, and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud, nothing I can do,” Trump whined.

“You want them to smile? So now the Democrats are getting catcalled by the President,” Meyers marveled, launching into a sleazy voice and mimicking a catcall many women face. “‘Hey, oh, Democrats, you got a pretty face. How about you give us a smile, baby?’”

Trump wasn’t done though, laying out a list of things he could do, like “find a cure to the most devastating disease” or “announce the answers to the greatest economy in history, or the stoppage of crime to the lowest levels ever recorded,” all while arguing that Democrats still would not applaud him.

Of course, Trump did have a chance to do some of these things in his first term, and Meyers was quick to point that out.

“You fully had a chance to cure a devastating disease, and instead said stuff like, ‘Maybe drink bleach’ and ‘I think it’s going to end tomorrow,’” Meyers retorted, recalling Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“You’re also gutting health agencies and slashing funding for the medical research that would lead to cures for diseases,” he continued. “And on top of that, there was huge spikes in violent crime during your first term.”
