Sela Ward to Replace Susan Sarandon on Epix Comedy ‘Graves’

Nick Nolte stars in straight-to-series political comedy

Sela Ward is replacing Susan Sarandon in Epix’s political comedy “Graves,” TheWrap has learned.

Nick Nolte also stars on the straight-to-series sitcom, and as a former President of the United States who believes he needs to right some wrongs he made during his administration. Ward will play the role of his character’s wife, who begins to pursue her own political career. Sarandon exited the project over creative differences.

Skylar Astin, Chris Lowell and Angélica María have also been cast in the series, which is set to debut in the fall of 2016.

In the 10-episode series, Astin will play Isaiah Miller, assistant to Nick Nolte‘s Richard Graves, former U.S. President. Lowell will portray the president’s son Jeremy, and María will play Ramona Alvarez, the family’s housekeeper.

Series creator Joshua Michael Stern (“Swing Vote”) will write and executive produce. He will also direct select episodes. Greg Shapiro (“The Hurt Locker”), Keith Eisner (“The Good Wife”) and Eric Weinberg (“Anger Management”) are also executive producing.

Ward was last seen in “Gone Girl” and plays the President in “Independence Day: Resurgence.” She is represented by  Gersh.
