Arnold Schwarzenegger has received an offer to star in Lionsgate's action thriller "Last Stand," and is in talks to join the cast of a project for Summit Entertainment, TheWrap has confirmed.
"Last Stand" is about a drug cartel leader who breaks out of an American courthouse. A small-town sheriff and his inexperienced staff are all that stand between the outlaw and freedom across the border in Mexico.
Kim Jee-woon ("The Uninvited") will direct. Andrew Knauer and Jeffrey Nachmonoff wrote the script.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing. Mike Drake is executive producer.
If he accepts the role, Schwarzenegger will, of course, play the sheriff.
Things are less concrete at Summit, which hasn't made Schwarzenegger an offer.
TheWrap confirmed, however, that he is talking to the studio about its upcoming film "The Tomb," which Antoine Fuqua is directing. That movie is about a security expert who is framed for a crime and then locked in a prison he designed.
In addition, Stan Lee is creating a comic called "The Governator," based on the one-time bodybuilder and former California governor.
