Joe Morton‘s character Rowan Pope is a former CIA operative anyone would be crazy to mess with. He also happens to be the father of political fixer Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) on Shonda Rhimes‘ “Scandal,” returning on ABC for Season 4 on Thursday.
That makes him a double threat.

“The beauty of Rowan is that he will always persevere.” Morton told TheWrap in a recent Drinking With the Stars segment. “Whatever he says is probably what he’s up to or what he’s going to do.”
The Emmy-nominated actor said the Season 3 finale “got crazier and crazier and crazier” — with Rowan in the thick of everything. “The beauty of it was, all of the things that Rowan said he was going to do, clearly he had done,” said Morton. “And he made all of his promises complete.”
“He said to his daughter ‘Fitz would become president,’ and he did. He said to his daughter, ‘I would not harm a hair on his head’ and he didn’t. He killed the son instead,” continued Morton. “Everything was wrapped up in a neat, although crazy package.”
TheWrap asked Morton what fans could expect to see in Thursday’s premiere, but he kept decidedly mum.
“The idea of a good drama like this is anticipation and if we give something away there’s no anticipation,” he said.
