Apparently, funny women are a type for Michael Sheen.
After Sarah Silverman announced her split with boyfriend Michael Sheen in a hilarious Twitter post, the “Jesus Is Magic” comedian shared that another ex of Sheen, Kate Beckinsale, had sent her a humorous, if somewhat cruelly themed, treat.
“Been ending every night with a microwaved bowl of personalized m&ms given to me by the very thoughtful and very cruel @katebeckinsale to remind me that I’m alone in this world,” Silverman wrote in an Instagram post late Tuesday. “So very alone. THANKS, KATE. (Seriously they are so good esp melted which is why the microwave).”
The post was accompanied by an image of a pile of blue and white M&Ms, each of them emblazoned with an image of the former couple.
Both Silverman and Beckinsale later made clear that Silverman’s post was in jest, with Silverman adding to her post, “I’m seeing stuff on twitter about this and need to clear up I’m KIDDING (good lord) she gave me these for Christmas before M & I broke up!!!!”
Beckinsale, meanwhile, responded, “I gave them to you on Christmas Day ! In my house ! When you were together! Of course I support you microwaving his head at any time I just have to make it clear I’m not actually insane . Love you lady.”
Beckinsale and Sheen, who dated from 1995 to 2003, have a daughter, Lily Mo Beckinsale-Sheen, together.
Silverman announced her split with Sheen on Monday, tweeting, “The great @michaelsheen & I consciously uncoupled over Christmas. I mean, not ‘over Christmas’ – like that wasn’t the fight that ended it. No fight.”
In an interesting bit of timing, Silverman made the announcement on Sheen’s 49th birthday.
