Ryan Reynolds plays a card shark in new gambling movie “Mississippi Grind,” so Jimmy Fallon put his skills to the test when he visited “The Tonight Show” on Monday.
“It works the same as blackjack, but at the end of each round the winner gets to slap the loser across the face with a giant prosthetic hand,” Fallon explained to the audience.
Reynolds got to deal first but as they tied the first round, the dealer lost and he got a huge palm to the face.
The hunky Canadian actor won the next round, however, and whacked Fallon so hard that he fell off his chair after the late-night host told him, “Just to go for it.”
“That was ugly … do we have an NFL concussion protocol?” Reynolds asked Fallon as he rose dazed and confused.
Next it was Ryan’s turn to get knocked to the ground, but Fallon assured his millions of adoring fans — and Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively — that the actor was all right.
“Mississippi Grind,” also starring Ben Mendelsohn and Sienna Miller, hits theaters Friday, Sept. 25.
“The Tonight Show” airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
