Ryan Reynolds took to Facebook to prove he’s more than just a foul-mouthed ass-kicker.
In a heartfelt post, the “Deadpool” actor paid tribute to Connor McGrath, a 13-year-old superfan who recently passed away from cancer.
“For three straight years, my friend, Connor McGrath drop-kicked cancer… Not sure how… Maybe the cancer cheated … But the fight came to an end two nights ago,” Reynolds wrote on his FB.
The actor revealed in the post that McGrath was the first person to see a full cut of “Deadpool,” as a result of the Make-a-Wish Foundation’s services.
“In a certain sense he WAS Deadpool,” Reynolds continued. “Or, at least everything Deadpool aspires to be; balancing pain, fearlessness, love and a filthy (filthy!) sense of humor in one body. I wish he could’ve stuck around a lot longer.”
Reynolds concluded the post by urging people to donate to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, saying, “These people do not suck. They are heroic. Full stop.”
A sequel to “Deadpool” is in the works at Fox, with Reynolds set to return.
