Journalist Ryan Nobles will join NBC News as their Capitol Hill Correspondent, marking his exit from CNN after eight years.

Nobles, who will join the network later this month in time for midterm elections, reported on the aftermath of the events of Jan. 6 as a Congressional Correspondent, including covering breaking news from House Select Committee’s investigation. He also covered Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump’s campaign trails during the 2020 election cycle.

The veteran journalist’s departure from CNN marks another shakeup as the company works its way towards a more centrist direction, per CNN CEO Chris Licht, with Don Lemon most recently shifting his primetime gig to co-anchor a morning show.

“I am excited and honored to join the incredible Capitol Hill team and Washington, DC Bureau at @NBCNews,” Nobles tweeted Monday morning. “As a kid from WNY who grew up watching Meet the Press with Tim Russert this a dream come true. I can’t wait to get started!”

He also thanked his colleagues at CNN, saying, “It was truly an honor to work with some of the best in the business at such a crucial time. I will never forget the opportunity they gave me to report on so many important stories.”

“It’s an exciting time to welcome Ryan, as we enter the final midterms sprint and prepare to cover a new Congress in just a few months,” said DC Bureau Chief Ken Strickland in a statement. “Many of our Washington colleagues know Ryan well — he’s been a staple at CNN, where he worked for eight years both on and off the Hill covering some of the biggest political stories of the decade.”

Strickland continued: “We already have one of the best reporting teams in the business on the Hill, led by Garrett, our Senior Capitol Hill Correspondent, along with Ali, Allie, and a terrific lineup of digital reporters, producers, and researcher. I’m confident Ryan will strengthen that operation even further and hope you’ll join me in welcoming him to the team.”
