“Avengers: Endgame” directors Anthony and Joe Russo have signed on as producers for the Chris Hemsworth and Tiffany Haddish buddy cop comedy “Down Under Cover,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
“Down Under Cover” is one of the hottest sales titles on the upcoming Cannes marketplace, and the Russo Brothers have teamed up again with their “Avengers” star Hemsworth to produce the film under their AGBO production banner.
CAA is introducing the package to domestic buyers at Cannes in conjunction with Haddish’s representatives at UTA, while FilmNation is handling international sales.
Peter Hoare wrote the screenplay for “Down Under Cover,” which stars Hemsworth as a detective who goes undercover to investigate a group of male, Australian erotic dancers who he suspects are involved in a series of casino heists. Haddish will play a lone wolf cop who Hemsworth reluctantly accepts as a partner.
Hemsworth’s production banner Thematic Entertainment — which he formed with John Finemore, James Hoppe and Ben Grayson — is also producing.
The Russo Brothers will be quite busy on the Cannes marketplace, as they’re also introducing their next film “Cherry” at the festival. They’ll direct that project, which is a drama and thriller starring Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland as an army medic who becomes a serial bank robber after being diagnosed with PTSD.
The Russo’s involvement in “Down Under Cover” was first reported by Deadline.
