Rosie O’Donnell thinks Donald Trump is a driving force behind the “war on women” in the United States.
The former “View” host called into SiriusXM’s “Just Jenny” to relate criticism of London marathon runner Kiran Gandhi for competing while on her period to Trump’s comments suggesting Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly was particularly tough on him during the GOP debate because she was menstruating.
“Why do you think she did that?” O’Donnell asked during an interview over the phone earlier this week. “When Fox anchors are being accused of being hormonal and ashamed because they have their period… Then that woman does that. Why do you think she does that stuff? You don’t think she did that to say, ‘F–k you, asshole?!”
Trump also poked fun at O’Donnell during the GOP debate when Kelly brought up the fact that he has called women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.”
“Only Rosie O’Donnell,” Trump interjected, and actually received a thunderous applause from the audience.
The radio hosts called his comments “vile,” but O’Donnell moved to the larger picture by saying, “It’s bigger than any specific people.”
“There’s a war on women that is happening in this country,” O’Donnell said. “Starting with basic abortion rights, freedom to choose that we fought for in the 60s and 70s, that women died for, bleeding in back alleys from hanger abortions. Women fought for equality in this country and right now, politically, it’s being taken away.”
O’Donnell previously fired back at Trump for the insults he hurled at her during the GOP debate by tweeting, “Try explaining that 2 ur kids.”
