The Conner family came together again on Tuesday’s episode of “The Talk.” Roseanne Barr, who starred in her own hit sitcom in the 90s, was reunited with her TV children on her 62nd birthday.
“The Talk” co-host Sara Gilbert, who played daughter Darlene on the ABC series, surprised her television mom by introducing Michael Fishman and Alicia Goranson who appeared from backstage, surprising Barr.
Goranson, one of two actress to portray oldest child Becky, shared her favorite story from working with Roseanne, saying: “I asked the producers if I could get my hair cut and they said, ‘no, men like long hair.’ And then I met with them again and I said, ‘please’ and they said no again. So I’m in hair and makeup and I’m feeling forlorn and sixteen, brooding about my life and Roseanne said, ‘what’s the matter?’ And I said, ‘Bob and Jay won’t let me get my hair cut.’ And she grabs the scissors and grabs my hair and she chops it.”
Fishman also explained how he continued to receive motherly advice from Barr long after the series ended in 1997.
“When I got married and I was expecting my first child, she called me up, she took me out to lunch, and she wanted to make sure I was okay and was making all the right decisions.”
John Goodman, who played Barr’s husband on the show for nine seasons, was unavailable to attend the special reunion but called her earlier in the day to wish her a happy birthday. Co-star Laurie Metcalf recorded in a video message for her television sister, inviting her out to lunch after she was done on “The Talk.”
