Brie Larson‘s Ma has been kidnapped and must raise her son in a tiny space with just one skylight in the first trailer for “Room.”
The trailer depicts the confined space in which Ma and five-year-old Jack (Jacob Tremblay) live and their struggle to escape and live a normal life in the beautiful world, which leads to their confronting an even riskier reality.
Ma euphemistically refers to the windowless 10-by-10-foot space where they’re kept by kidnapper Old Nick (Sean Bridgers) as “Room.”
“Room,” a film drama adapted by Emma Donoghue from her best-selling novel, will get a limited awards season release on Oct. 16 before a nationwide rollout on Nov. 6, distributor A24 said Wednesday.
The film is directed by Lenny Abrahamson (“Frank”) and has been chosen for a spot in the official lineup of the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. William H. Macy and Joan Allen co-star in the film, produced by Element Films, No Trace Camping and Film4.
