Rock Hall 2011 Inductees: Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond In — But No Beasties, Bon Jovi

Tom Waits, Dr. John, Darlene Love also in; Donna Summer, Chic, L.L. Cool J among snubs

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2011 inductees, with the Alice Cooper Band, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Darlene Love and Tom Waits all slated to be enshrined next year.

Leon Russell will receive the award for musical excellence, which was previously the “sidemen” category.

Also being inducted this year are Jac Holzman and Art Rupe as recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

As with any awards presentation, the list of inductees is as notable for who was left off as who made it on.

Snubs for 2011’s Rock Hall include Bon Jovi, Donna Summer, Chic, Donovan, L.L. Cool J and the Beastie Boys. (Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording.)

The 26th annual ceremony will take place on March 14, 2011, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and be broadcast on Fuse.
