It took him 117 days, spread out over 10 years and 4 seasons, but Rob Mariano, aka "Boston Rob," has finally been named sole survivor.
Given an unprecedented fourth try, the 35-year-old Floridian manuevered his way to the million dollar prize and won "Survivor: Redemption Island" Sunday night.
While Mariano had a few angry former tribe members deciding on his fate on the jury of ousted competitors, he got the votes that fellow finalists Phillip Sheppard and Natalie Tenerelli couldn't muster.
When called out for his ruthless, secretive tactics during the final tribal council, Mariano said he isn't like that in real life. "Inside of the game of 'Survivor,' I feel like it's necessary to play like this," he said.
