TNT has canceled “Rizzoli and Isles,” and the upcoming seventh season will be its last, the company announced Thursday.
The series following a detective (Angie Harmon) working with a medical examiner (Sasha Alexander) to solve Boston homicide cases will return this summer with a final 13 episodes.
“Rizzoli & Isles,” produced for TNT by Warner Horizon Television and Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions, finished this past summer as basic cable’s number 1 series, and has ranked as one of basic cable’s top five series for five years in a row.
“We felt it was time,” said TNT boss Kevin Reilly onstage during the Television Critics Association winter press tour while making the announcement.
