“Riverdale” star K.J. Apa was involved in a late-night car crash last week while leaving the CW show’s Vancouver set, an insider told TheWrap.

The accident took place after shooting had wrapped for the night, and Apa’s car was the only one involved. The actor returned to set the next day without having sustained major injury, and production has not been halted, the insider said.

Warner Bros. TV, which produces the show, declined to comment. Representatives for Apa did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Other media outlets have reported that the accident occurred after Apa had been on set for a 16-hour shoot, but the individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap that he was not on set for such an extended amount of time.

Warner Bros. has a policy of offering to pay for a taxi, driver or hotel room to any cast or crew member who feels fatigued after working on the studio’s projects. Apa did not request such an amenity, the insider said.

Apa plays Archibald “Archie” Andrews on the drama series based on the Archie Comics characters.

“Riverdale” is still scheduled to return with Season 2 on Oct. 11 as previously planned.
