Riverdale and Greendale residents won’t be holding a mixer any time soon.
The CW president Mark Pedowitz said Monday that “there will be no cross connection” between “Riverdale” and the upcoming Netflix spinoff “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” — at least any time soon.
“‘Sabrina’ was originally, as you know, in development here,” Pedowitz told reporters during the network’s executive session at the Television Critics Association summer 2018 press tour. “The studio came to us — Peter came to me actually — and said, ‘We have a two-year commitment from Netflix.’ And I said, ‘Go with [Netflix], it’s the right thing to do for your business.’”
Pedowitz added that he wishes executive producers Greg Berlanti and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (who are both EPs on “Riverdale,” too) the best.
“I wish them all well; I wish Greg and Roberto well with ‘Sabrina.’ I think they’ll do fine,” he said.
As for other “Riverdale” spinoffs?
“I’m waiting to hear what Roberto has in mind,” Pedowitz said. “He is thinking about something, but there will be no cross connection right now with ‘Sabrina’ at all.”
