Rita Ora Flubs Lip Sync Performance at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (Video)

“Rita Ora is so talented that she can sing on the #MacysParade without even moving her lips!” one Twitter user says

Rita Ora probably isn’t saying thanks to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade production team on Thursday.

The singer is being skewered on Twitter after she flubbed the lip-sync performance of her song “Let You Love Me.” It didn’t go well from the beginning, with the music kicking off while Ora was waving to the New York City crowd.

Fellow performer John Legend came to her defense soon after, saying Ora didn’t have the option to sing her song live, even if she wanted to. “Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance,” Legend said in a tweet.

After her performance, Ora took to Twitter to thank Legend for his defense and echoed his sentiments.

“Fun fact @johnlegend thank you for clarifying what I was about to also tweet. It’s annoying for us but anyway! All my shows are 100 percent live always have been! When you come to a ORA show get ready! Back to holidays! Have a good one guys! 🙂 X,” the singer wrote.

Unfortunately for the 27-year-old singer, people on Twitter weren’t buying Legend’s reasoning. Ora was lampooned almost immediately on Twitter. One user said she “forgot how to lip sync,” while another user called it the “worst lip sync job I’ve ever seen.”

Ora isn’t the first performer to have a rough time at the annual parade. Tony Bennett nearly fell off the stage two years ago and had to be saved by — who else? — Miss Piggy from taking a bad spill.
