The film involves space aliens and it’s possible that the singer could be playing a character along the lines of Maiwenn Le Besco’s blue woman from Besson’s previous space odyssey, “The Fifth Element.”
Based on the graphic novel from Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres, “Valerian” is set in the 28th century and follows a time-traveling agent (DeHaan) and his female counterpart (Delevingne). The story has sold over 10 million copies in 21 languages.
“Valerian” will start production next year in France and hit theaters on July 21, 2017 — when it’s slated to take on Christopher Nolan‘s next movie at the box office.
Besson is the French filmmaker best known for directing “The Professional” and “Lucy,” as well as producing the “Taken” franchise.
