Ricky Gervais and Eric Bana’s Netflix Original comedy “Special Correspondents” will premiere on April 29, the streaming service announced Wednesday.
The film written by, directed by and starring Gervais follows a struggling New York radio journalist whose arrogance and decadent lifestyle have hindered his career. With his job on the line, he fakes front line war reports from the comfort of his hideout above a Spanish restaurant in Queens.
Bana co-stars alongside Vera Farmiga, Kelly Macdonald, Kevin Pollak, America Ferrera, Raúl Castillo, and Benjamin Bratt.
The film is a co-production between Bron Studios and Unanimous Entertainment. Gervais produced the film along with Unanimous’ Chris Coen, Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert, Manuel Munz, and Larry Sanitsky. Jason Cloth and Ron McLeod are executive producers.
Gervais will be seen on TV again on Sunday when he hosts the Golden Globe Awards, which NBC is broadcasting live starting at 5 p.m. PT and 8 p.m. ET.
